The Atlas of Global Christianity (also available here) contains statistics, maps and charts about various aspects of Christianity around the world. A sample page shows Religions, 1910-2010 (click the images below for larger versions):

Maps like this, while they don't tell the whole story, can be very helpful in visualizing strategic factors that pertain to the task of world missions. Another resource along these lines is the Global Status of Evangelical Christianity which can be downloaded here (~12MB PDF).
